Our Beliefs
The Way We Worship
Our worship services on Sunday are simple, reverential and traditional. We avoid constant innovation and adaptation to contemporary culture. The focus is on singing praise to God, prayers, and the reading and teaching of the Bible.
Music
The songs are primarily rhymed versions of the Psalms in the Bible set to simple and easily-learned tunes. The songs we use in worship can be found in the Anglo-Genevan Psalter (external link). We do not use worship bands, choirs and soloists nor do we emphasize a ministry of music. Instead, we have organists and pianists who play to support the singing of the entire congregation.
Sermon
Sermons are Christ-centered messages which call the worshipers to renew their faith in Jesus Christ and to live for Him in thankful obedience. During each service, the pastor strives to explain in clear language the meaning of a specific portion of the Bible.
Financial Gifts
Each worship service also includes the taking of a collection of financial gifts which are received for the care of the poor both within and outside of the congregation.
Children
The average length of a worship service is between 60 and 75 minutes. Older children are expected to worship with their families while we have child care for babies and toddlers and other pre-school children who are not accustomed to sitting quietly for the time of a worship service.
Dress Code
There is no official dress code for the services but you will notice that most of the worshipers wear formal or semi-formal clothing. Our clothing reflects our conviction that worship brings us into the presence of God who is the great King of the world. Read more about our our worship (external link).
