Kits for Kids

Around the world many people suffer in poverty. As Christians living in a land of wealth and freedom, we feel an obligation to ease the suffering of others where we can (Galatians 6:10). As individual members of the church we offer support to organizations like the Canadian Reformed World Relief Fund (CRWRF) which sponsors aid projects in various third world countries. These projects aim at helping the poor in combination with spreading the gospel message. The saving work of Christ applies not just to our souls, but also ultimately to our bodies.

One annual project which we participate in and is co-sponsored by the CRWRF is Kits for Kids. This is an effort to reach the poor children in the orphanages of Romania with gifts of love at Christmas time. Members of the congregation donate various articles of food, clothing, and toys. These are then packaged into “kits” and sent off to the “kids” of Romania. They are distributed in the orphanages along with the message of Christ’s birth and His gift of peace to all who believe in Him. In this way, the difficult circumstances of these orphaned children are brightened both in Word and in deed. Though the latter may only last a short while, our hope and prayer remains that the seed of the gospel may land on good soil and by the working of the Holy Spirit change lives to live for Christ.
